Do you ever gush over oodles of tabletop still lifes as you scroll through your Instagram feed? Ever wonder how the pros create such painterly tabletop displays? We're here to help you create your own *drool-worthy* tabletop display. This workshop will be composed of two parts; etherial garden compote and tabletop styling.
Intermediate. Participants should have a bit of experience in florals under their belt. Perfect for folks that have already completed our Vase 101 Workshop or those who work within the floral and events sphere.
Part 1: Etherial Garden Compote
Let us walk you through how we create our garden-style compote arrangements. This workshop will cover how to create dreamy, lush, compotes that you would typically see at a wedding. In traditional Wild North style, you can expect loads of whimsy, loads of garden buds and at this particular workshop, we will be working to emphasize the ethereal. This means airy design, key floral components and how to utilize flowers that will keep your arrangement feeling light and naturalistic.
Key Teaching Points:
-how to use delicate greens
-how to build an etherial compote arrangement by starting with minimal greens
-choosing the right flowers and botanicals
-how to prioritize floral moments within your design
-how to emphasize interesting stems, creating a sense of movement and flow within the arrangement
-how to prep your vase
-key details when considering your final touches
Part 2: Tabletop Styling
Join our senior designer and resident photographer to explore tabletop design. We'll study a demo still life created by yours truly. We will then guide you and help you create your very own still life with your etherial garden compote you just made. You can expect the je ne sais quoi of a ripened peach, enchanting trailing greens, warmly lit candles, and rococo galore. It's time to bring out all the fixins'.
Key Teaching Points:
-how to be intentional with objects
-how to create a colour story
-how to choose the right fabrics to create a mood
-how much is too much
-photography angles, how to frame the perfect shot.
-how to work with backdrops and lighting
-your custom etherial compote arrangement
-images of your work to utilize on your social media, taken by our resident photographer.
